Skip the small talk. Start with a nightmare.
You don’t have to talk about yourself. Talk about what’s on your card.
Everyone starts with a random nightmare scenario. Before the event, each nightmare is ranked from most to least tolerable. Your goal is to trade your way to one you think ranked higher.
Compare them, argue over which is worse and try to make a better trade.
Near the end of the night, team up, submit your cards, and see how they ranked. The top teams win prizes!
Coming alone works really well here.
Most guests come on their own. Once trading begins, everyone has a reason to move around the room, compare nightmares and join different conversations.
Coming solo gives you the freedom to follow the cards, conversations and people you find most interesting.

How it works
1. Receive a card
Start with one randomly assigned nightmare scenario—the only card you can’t finish the night with.
2. Discuss and Trade
Compare cards with people around the room and trade your way to a nightmare you think Toronto ranked as more tolerable.
3. Team up
Join three other guests and submit your four cards. Toronto’s hidden rankings are revealed, and the two teams with the highest combined scores choose prizes from our prize table!
What to expect
6:30 PM — Check in, receive your card and grab some appetizers.
7:00 PM — Trading begins.
8:30 PM — Form teams and submit your cards.
9:00 PM — Rankings are revealed and prizes are awarded.
Stay for drinks and conversation until 10 PM.

The Story Behind 319 Augusta Ave
In 1925, 319 Augusta Avenue became home to Sam Gryfe’s bakery.
When Gryfe bought the property, he needed an oven. Local bricklayer Lipa Green was brought in to construct it. Green had never built a baker’s oven before, so Gryfe showed him how.
For decades, people worked there through the night, baking bread while most of Toronto slept.
Gryfe sold the bakery in 1947, and by 1963 it was gone.
Nearly a century later, the address has changed completely. But on October 29, its history becomes part of Nightmares.
And history rarely records everything.
